As the Governmental Affairs Head at AstraZeneca, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that innovative medicines are prioritized and effectively integrated into the healthcare system. You will directly report to the country director of Denmark, be a member of the Danish leadership team. This position is located in our Copenhagen office.

The role:

The Governmental Affairs Head in Denmark is responsible for developing and executing strategic governmental affairs priorities that support AstraZeneca’s (AZ) therapy area objectives, including Respiratory & Immunology, Cardiovascular Renal Metabolism, Vaccines & Immune therapies, and Oncology. This role creates and implements national policy-shaping initiatives aligned with franchise needs, influences health policy through AZ and LIF committee work, and leads key partnerships and cross-company projects.

Collaborating closely with communications, you drive a positive reputation among political, patient, and payer stakeholders while serving as a guiding resource for internal colleagues regarding public policy changes.

As the principal AZ contact to Danish LIF, the position leads and coordinates AZ’s engagement and input, spearheads alliances with external partners, and maintains strong visibility among healthcare policymakers and leaders. You advise franchise teams and the country director on healthcare opportunities, contributes to AZ DK’s leadership team, directly manages a team of three Governmental Affairs managers and one student assistant, and ensures aligned execution of governmental affairs strategies.

Essentials for the role:

For this role, we’re seeking a candidate with a solid academic foundation in fields such as political science or business administration, coupled with substantial experience shaping healthcare policy and leading impactful projects.

Success will rely on strong strategic, analytical, and communication abilities, fluency in English and Danish, and a thorough understanding of the Danish health system and pharmaceutical industry.

We value candidates who build effective relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders, negotiate skillfully, and are comfortable collaborating with healthcare customers.

Experience in pharmaceutical sales, marketing, consultancy, or people leadership is an advantage.
